Today, St Paul’s Gate has still a fine look and keeps its original structure.
Quite near, the pyramid of Caius Cestius is equally intact.
As the mausoleums could not been built inside the enclosure of the Aurelian Wall, this tradition was respected,
as the wall was built, by including this mausoleum into the wall on the outer side. On the other side of the pyramid,
you can visit the protestant cemetary, true garden of pines and cypresses,
where some celebrities rest, among whom Shelley. As I had a chance to visit
this place, I still keep in my memory the emotion I felt by seeing on a
tomb an angel crying, crushed by sorrow.
