This is a reconstruction made by a drawer. In the background the Processional Way,
22 meters broad, leading to the Ziggurat and to the temple of Marduk.
Here is a restoration of the Gate of Ishtar, with its decoration in glazed bricks.
This reconstruction is much lower than the original was.
Notice the dragons alternating with bulls.
This picture shows the site of the Gate of Ishtar at the time when the German
excavations began to clear it. You can see on the left the still very visible
representations of animals on the wall.
